The small print for bench days.
These apply when you book bench days at /workshop. They sit on top of our general site terms, they’re short, and — like the service — they’re written to be read.
What a bench day is
A bench day is one working day of our focused attention on your site, normally delivered as a single calendar day. It starts with exploration — reproducing the fault and tracing it to the cause — and moves to fixes. At the end of each day you get a written summary: what was done, what was found, what remains.
A bench day is not an emergency call-out, an on-call arrangement, or a guarantee that a specific fault will be fully fixed within the days booked. The repair times on the Workshop page are honest estimates from experience, not promises — every seizure is different.
When work starts
Work starts within two working days of your booking, provided we have your job card (the short intake form after checkout) and access to what we need to look at. If access isn’t granted yet, the clock waits — we can’t diagnose a site we can’t see.
The “properly stuck” box at checkout is a triage flag, not a paid upgrade: it costs nothing and tells us who to call first. We’ll always tell you your start day by email once the job card is in.
The first-hour rule
Within the first hour of the first day, if we can see the fault runs deeper than the days you’ve booked can reach, we stop. You get a full refund of everything you paid, a written note on what’s actually wrong, and — only if you want it — a quote for the real job. No partial billing for the hour.
Beyond that: if a job finishes in fewer days than you booked, we refund the whole days we didn’t use. Started days aren’t refundable, because the exploration is most of the work.
Access — never passwords
We don’t accept passwords, by form, email, or any other route. You grant us access from your side — a Shopify collaborator request, a WordPress administrator invite, Analytics or Search Console access — and you can revoke it the moment the job is done. If something genuinely can’t be invited, we’ll ask you to use a one-time self-destructing link, never plain text.
We use the access you grant only for the job you’ve booked. Where the platform allows it, we take a backup or duplicate before changing anything material.
Your data
Working on your site can mean seeing personal data inside it — customer names, orders, addresses. For that data you’re the controller and we act as a processor on your instructions; our data processing addendum applies, and our own handling of your contact details is covered by the privacy notice.
Payment
Bench days are priced in pounds sterling and paid up front through Stripe; the total you’ll pay, including any VAT due, is shown on the checkout page before you commit. Your receipt comes from Stripe, and refunds under these terms go back to the card you paid with.
Where these sit
Where these Workshop terms and the site terms cover the same point, these win for Workshop bookings. If we agree a separate engagement letter or statement of work with you, that document wins over both. Everything else — liability, governing law, the sensible boilerplate — is in the site terms.
